Shylo began voice lessons at the age of 7 and proceeded to collect numerous vocal awards in her youth, but the turning point was winning British Columbia's province-wide contest Variety's Got Talent in 2011, landing her an interview and performance on Global TV as well as going on to open for international country stars Wynonna Judd and Dierks Bentley.

Since then Shylo has continued to gain recognition, winning 1st place in the duo category as well as top 10 in the solo female category in Simon C
